Zelensky Accuses Russia of Supplying Iran with Shahed Drones

Ukrainian President’s Remarks on Iran’s Use of Drones

In a recent interview with CNN, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that Russia is supplying Iran with Shahed drones to use against both the United States and Israel.

Zelensky assured Fareed Zakaria on CNN that the fact of Iran utilizing Russian-made Shahed drones to target American bases is “100% confirmed.”

The Shahed drones have been linked to various attacks on countries in the region, although the specific manufacturers are not always clearly identified.

Ukrainian sources report that these drones were widely deployed for the first time during the Russo-Ukrainian war, with Russian forces launching thousands of them since the fall of 2022.

While Iran was the initial supplier of these drones, Russia has now started producing its own versions of the Shahed. Consequently, armed forces from other nations have also adopted the Shahed drone, including the U.S. military, which has noted that these drones are part of the ongoing campaign against Iran.
