Head of State: Committed to Collaboration with Australia for Mutual Development and Global Peace Support

Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the President of the UAE, engaged in discussions with Governor-General of Australia, Sarah Musgrave, during her official visit to the UAE. They examined various aspects of the UAE-Australia relationship, focusing on avenues for growth, particularly in development sectors.

This conversation is set against the backdrop of the comprehensive economic partnership agreement between the two nations. Sheikh Mohammed welcomed the Governor-General and her delegation warmly at the Al Bahar Palace in Abu Dhabi, expressing his hopes for continued progress and prosperity for Australia and its people.

During the meeting, they also discussed regional and global issues of mutual interest, including the situation in the Middle East. They underscored the importance of fostering regional stability and supporting a fair and lasting peace in the area.

Both parties emphasized the need for peaceful resolutions to global conflicts through dialogue, aiming for the common good of humanity and global prosperity. Sheikh Mohammed pointed out that the UAE and Australia are commemorating 50 years of diplomatic relations established in 1975, viewing it as an opportunity to reinforce their commitment to furthering bilateral cooperation for the mutual development of both countries.

He noted that the UAE-Australia relations are rich and evolving, with the UAE keen on advancing them by seizing opportunities in future economies, trade, investment, sustainability, culture, education, food security, technology, and more, all guided by a strategy that builds cooperative bridges for the benefit of all. Sheikh Mohammed also shared on his X account:

“Today in Abu Dhabi, I discussed with Her Excellency Sarah Musgrave, the Governor-General of Australia, our collaborative efforts to enhance our developmental ties for the benefit of both our nations and peoples. As we celebrate 50 years of diplomatic relations this year, we reaffirm the UAE’s commitment to continuing cooperation with Australia to support mutual growth and global peace and prosperity.”

Strengthening Cooperation

Both leaders acknowledged the significance of continuing to enhance collaboration, especially in areas prioritized for development that would benefit their populations. They noted that the economic partnership agreement signed last year serves as a foundational framework for joint efforts aimed at significantly enhancing economic relations and expanding trade and investment opportunities.

Additionally, it aims to create favorable conditions for business communities in both the UAE and Australia to engage in investment, collaboration, and the establishment of joint projects. For her part, the Governor-General expressed her gratitude to Sheikh Mohammed for the warm reception and highlighted the advancements in the bilateral relationship as well as the commitment to furthering them for the benefit of both countries.

The meeting was attended by Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Representative of the Abu Dhabi Ruler in Al Dhafra Region, Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Head of the Presidential Court for Special Affairs.

Also present were Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Tahnoun Al Nahyan, Adviser to the President, Omar Sultan Al Olama, Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy and Remote Work Applications, Ahmed Ali Al Sayegh, Minister of State, and Dr. Ahmed Mubarak Al Mazrouei, Head of the President’s Office for Strategic Affairs, among other senior officials and the visiting delegation.
