Fertiglobe Sees Quarter Increase in Revenue but Decline in Profit

Fertiglobe announced a significant rise in revenues of over 25% during the initial quarter of 2025, driven by an increase in sales volumes and urea pricing.

The revenue for the first quarter reached $695 million, a 26% increase compared to the same period last year. Nevertheless, the net profit attributable to shareholders declined by 24% on an annual basis to $73 million, although it witnessed a 74% rise from the previous quarter, as stated by the company in a report to the Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange.

The company, listed in Abu Dhabi, experienced a 7% annual growth in sales from its own production. This growth was attributed to favorable market conditions and improved operational efficiency at plants following the implementation of the initial phase of its manufacturing enhancement strategy, which seeks to improve energy efficiency and production capabilities.

The subsequent phase of this strategy aims to boost EBITDA by $80 million by the close of 2027.

CEO Ahmed El-Hoshy emphasized that Fertiglobe is poised to play an essential role in fulfilling the global demand for low-carbon ammonia, facilitated by the support from Abu Dhabi’s state-owned Adnoc and its worldwide initiatives.

Furthermore, the company is ramping up investments in low-carbon ammonia, which is projected to generate an additional $70-100 million in EBITDA by 2030, he noted.

On Wednesday, Fertiglobe’s stock ended the day down 0.4% at AED2.37. Adnoc Fertilizers, a subsidiary of Adnoc, owns an 86.2% stake in Fertiglobe.
