Thailand Imposes Curfew Amid Escalating Border Clashes with Cambodia

Thailand has implemented a curfew in the Trat province in the southeastern region of the country as hostilities with Cambodia spread to coastal areas in a disputed border zone. This decision follows a statement made two days ago by U.S. President Donald Trump, asserting that both nations had agreed to ceasefire.

During a press briefing in Bangkok, Admiral Surasak Kongsaid, spokesperson for the Thai Defense Ministry, remarked, “In general, clashes continue,” referring to the ongoing tensions, despite Cambodia’s recent reaffirmation of its willingness to engage in a ceasefire.

He also indicated that Thailand is open to a diplomatic resolution, but noted, “Cambodia must first halt hostilities before any negotiations can commence.
